An alarming and tragic situation is taking place in Gramsh, where several villages have been engulfed by massive fires that have left behind destruction, injuries and, unfortunately, one victim. In the early hours of Tuesday afternoon, the villages of Kullollas, Bletëz, Menkollar, Shimër, Skënderbegas, Spanesh and Kazie have been engulfed in flames and thick smoke with fires, whose flames reach several meters in height.
According to official reports, the villages of Kullollas, Bletëz, Menkollar and Shimër have been completely destroyed, while the Ministry of Defense has continued to evacuate residents, appealing for cooperation from the local community. In the village of Kullollas, according to police, an elderly man around 80 years old tragically lost his life after allegedly starting a fire in the garden of his apartment, which then got out of control. The elderly man suffocated from the smoke, while the flames quickly spread to a wide area around him.
The fires have also affected cultural heritage, as the Shemberdhenja tekke, an object of historical and spiritual importance for the area, was burned down. It is suspected that a person was trapped inside, while his fate is still unknown. In another dramatic incident, in the village of Bulçar, a woman with two children was trapped on a farm, seeking urgent help from the authorities. But the intervention of ambulances and firefighters has become extremely difficult, due to the rugged terrain and large flames, which also endanger the lives of rescue teams.
The situation in Gramsh is critical and requires extraordinary mobilization from all structures, air support, humanitarian aid and broad solidarity to cope with this disaster, which is severely affecting the residents and the nature of the area. The Minister of Interior and the General Director of Civil Emergencies, as well as other authorities, have also gone to Gramsh to contribute to minimizing the damage of this disaster caused by the fires, whose flames have engulfed entire villages.
