Journalist Klodiana Lala, invited to "News24", has analyzed the progress of some of the most important files being investigated by SPAK, starting from the worsening of the legal position of former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, the investigations into Erion Veliaj's assets, to the AKSHI affairs and the "Aruba" file.
According to the journalist, Belinda Balluku's legal position has been aggravated by new charges of corruption and money laundering. Prosecutors suspect that the tears of the Big Ring were predetermined by her and her subordinates. As part of the investigation, checks were carried out in several villas in the south of the country as well as at the company "Atelier 4", which is suspected of having designed these villas that could be her hidden assets.
An architect in Vlora was also searched, and 53 mobile phones are currently being searched with court authorization. SPAK has an investigation deadline of October 20, with the possibility of an extension of three months. Balluku remains the highest-ranking official to be indicted by the justice system.
She added that SPAK also remains focused on the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, for whom the property investigation is ongoing. The verification of entry and exit records has shown that Veliaj has made over 100 trips abroad within two and a half years, which means that he has been outside Albania for almost a year. In parallel, prosecutors are also investigating a former minister of the Socialist Party regarding her role in several monetary transfers abroad.
The journalist also focused on the AKSHI file, where citizen Ermal Beqiraj was arrested by French authorities. He had bought a castle in France, light aircraft that he piloted himself and had opened companies in EU countries. Regarding the “Aruba” file, which includes Artur Shehu, Ilir Shtufi and the “Koçeku” and “Hamzai” groups, new developments are expected regarding the meetings held in Aruba, Majorca and other countries. In addition, money laundering investigations against Shpëtim Aliu’s organization continue, while the internal dynamics in SPAK may bring other surprising issues.
