The General Prosecutor's Office has officially informed the Central Election Commission about the criminal past of the Mayor of Kuçovë Municipality, Kreshnik Hajdari, noting that he has been convicted by a final decision in Greece.

According to the Prosecution's letter, Hajdari was convicted in 1999 by the Court of Ioannina for illegal entry into Greek territory, at a time when he was 17 years old and a minor. In that case, a re-education measure was imposed on him, but this punishment was not stated on the relevant forms.

In another case, the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime found Hajdari guilty of the criminal offense of “forgery of seals, stamps or forms.” In a decision issued on January 25, 2024, the court replaced the one-year prison sentence with 150 hours of community service.

Following the investigation, SPAK has taken the defendant into custody and has communicated to him the charge of falsifying forms, one day after the CEC did not terminate his mandate as mayor. The prosecution asks the CEC to consider the information provided, while the case is expected to continue with further institutional developments.
