Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku, in her speech in the Assembly, stated that the case of Belinda Balluku's immunity, which the Parliament voted not to lift, has hindered the country's EU integration process.
Tabaku also touched on the case of the previous day where the Tax Office arbitrarily hit "Prestige Resort", where the MP stated that the reason was the fact that News24 broadcasts the anti-government citizen protest.
"Integration is a long and human process, the change and the beneficiaries should be Albanians. The government has kept it in the shadows because it wants to hide the big difference between integration on paper and in reality."
There are only 3 closed chapters and it should have happened in October 2025.
Montenegro, with 20 years of statehood, has closed 17 chapters.
One of the education indicators is PISA, Albania has a decline in all three categories and it is the appearance of a generation that is losing the opportunity to compete with its peers. This is the failure of the government.
The Albanian government has requested interim periods because we are light years away.
Integration is equality before the law, competitiveness, and relationships with citizens.
The 2026 report recognizes no advancement other than vetting, and uses critical language.
The obstruction of lifting immunity raised serious issues for equality before the law and the separation of powers, and a protester is arrested for carrying an egg in his hand and pocket. For the citizen, the law is brutal, for the politician, it is flexible.
Belinda Balluku is an example that this Assembly has protected and today is an obstacle to integration.
Investigative committees have been dismantled, draft laws are submitted at the last minute without consultation.
Is it a European government that takes the Tax Directorate to the media just because television News24 defends the protest and why the television defends the protest. Is this a European government? This is the model we should read after the report.
