Two trains collided on Sunday evening in western Slovakia, leaving at least 18 people injured, the News Agency of the Slovak Republic (TASR) reported.
The collision occurred between the town of Pezinok in the Bratislava region and the capital Bratislava. State passenger carrier ZSSK said it was working with rail infrastructure operator ZSR, police and emergency services to manage the situation.
The injured were transported to four hospitals affiliated with the Bratislava University Hospital (UNB), according to TASR.
Rail services in the area have been disrupted and a gradual return to full operation is expected, ZSSK said.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
