Numerous debates were recorded this Tuesday at the Macedonian market in Korça, where traders faced checks and punitive measures from the Municipal Police, after the deadline for removing tents placed in the market expired.

Municipal inspectors have been conducting field inspections, imposing fines on traders who have not respected the local institution's requirements. Many of them have considered the measure unfair and economically unaffordable.

Traders say that they have long faced changes and constant demands from the municipality regarding the way the market is organized.

According to them, the costs of implementing these requirements are very high, especially when they involve projects designed by architects.

For this reason, they are demanding that the municipality contribute financially if it aims to standardize the market. One of the traders stated that she was punished not only for the tent, but also for taking goods outside the designated trading area. She added that the report was handed to her without receiving the necessary clarifications on the violation found.

Traders warn that the latest measures seriously jeopardize the continuation of their activity and request more understanding from the local government.
