The Japanese government has released the first official number of injuries following today's earthquake and tsunami.
Jiro Akama, the minister responsible for disaster management, said 13 people were injured, as reported by Japanese public broadcaster NHK.
Akama also reiterated the prime minister's earlier order that people in affected areas should be vigilant for another week and check their disaster preparedness.
The earthquake and subsequent events appear to have caused only minor damage. 23 people were injured, according to recent reports from the Associated Press.
As Japan wakes up, the government has warned residents to remain on alert for at least another week, as more aftershocks could follow.
