Democratic Party MP, Klevis Balliu, invited to the studio News24, has made strong accusations regarding the government's statements about establishing a military industry in the country. According to Balliu, behind the company "Timak Defense" lies a clear scheme of abuse of public funds, which directly violates national security and the interests of the NATO alliance.
Balliu described the company "Timak Defense" as fictitious, breaking down the steps of how this business was established and how, according to him, legal criteria were bypassed during the signing of the contract:
"Having an arms industry requires a very large budget and the expenses are staggering, just look at the examples in the region. Here we are talking about the company Timak Defense, which is fictitious. It was established with a budget of 30 thousand euros, where Ron Yefet bought 40% of it for only 490 euros. Then he makes a joint venture with the SHA of the KAYO company. 80% of this company is owned by Ron Yefet with Arjeta Puca," said Balliu.
The opposition MP highlighted that, although the established criteria required a budget of 15 million euros, the contract was signed with companies that had only 30 thousand euros in capital, subsequently benefiting from 10.6 million euros within a few months.
Further, Balliu highlighted the employment figures of this company, ironizing the claims of arms exports: 14 declared employees with an average salary of around 860 euros per month; 12 thousand euros in total monthly expenses for staff.
"Rama has managed to create an arms industry in Albania with a monthly expenditure of 12 thousand euros, and he even says that they will export it. It is a theft industry, not an arms industry. This scheme was signed by Belinda Balluku. There are three beneficiaries here: Edi Rama, Belinda Balluku and Ron Yefet," declared the DP MP.
In conclusion, Balliu announced that he had reported the matter to the Internal Affairs Committee, where he had summoned the former Minister of Interior, and announced that Ardi Veliu of KAYO would also be summoned. He publicly called on law enforcement agencies to act urgently to investigate what he called an affair that had a negative impact on the country's national and geopolitical security.
