Singer Besart Kelmendi, known by his stage name Gjesti, has been sentenced by the Basic Court in Pristina after an incident that occurred in a music studio. Gjesti was found guilty of the criminal offenses of illegal possession of a weapon, intimidation and damage to property. The court sentenced him to 2 years of suspended imprisonment, as well as a fine in the total amount of 6 thousand euros.

According to the case handled by the court, the singer had entered a music studio armed, where he allegedly threatened its owner. The incident had come after a conflict between the parties regarding issues of music rights and a contract.

For the act of intimidation, the court has imposed a sentence of two years of suspended imprisonment. Meanwhile, a fine of 3 thousand euros has been imposed for the damage to property, while another fine of 3 thousand euros has been imposed for the possession of a weapon without a permit.

The prison sentence is conditional, meaning he will not be put in prison if Gjesti does not commit another criminal offense during the probation period.

Following the decision, the singer thus escapes effective imprisonment, while he must also pay the 6 thousand euro fine imposed by the court.

Gjesti is one of the most well-known Kosovar artists to the Albanian public, while his popularity increased significantly after participating in "Big Brother VIP Albania", where he was declared the winner.
