Granit Xhaka is at risk of missing out on playing for Switzerland in the Nations League due to an investigation related to a COVID-19 vaccination certificate. The Albanian Swiss footballer has admitted the charge and has announced that he will cooperate with authorities to fully clarify the matter.

In a public statement, Xhaka explained that at the time he had great doubts and concerns about the vaccine. He admits that the decision to provide a vaccination certificate was wrong and expresses regret for the action.

"Today I clearly understand that this path was not the right one. It was a mistake. I regret this. I take responsibility for this decision and I am ready for the full disclosure of the facts. I will cooperate fully with the responsible authorities ," Xhaka declared.
