US President Donald Trump said Ukraine must sit at the negotiating table "soon" to reach a deal to end the war, as a new round of talks involving Russian, Ukrainian and American officials is expected to begin in Geneva.
Speaking to reporters on Air Force One after his return to Washington on Monday, Trump said: "Ukraine would do well to sit down at the negotiating table and quickly."
His statements come during a period of heightened diplomatic activity, with all three sides trying to restart efforts for a political solution to the conflict, which has continued for a third year at a heavy human and economic cost.
