The former mayor of Rrogozhina, Edison Memolla, sentenced to 1 year in prison for electoral corruption, has appealed to the Supreme Court, requesting the annulment of the decision issued by the Special Appeal.
Meanwhile, Genti Shala has been designated as the rapporteur for Memolla's appeal.
After the announcement of the decision by the Special Court of Appeal, Memolla surrendered to the police and was then transferred to the prison in Rrogozhina, where he is currently serving his sentence. As a result of the arrest, the municipality has been temporarily led by a deputy mayor.
The investigation against him began after the publication of an audio recording in which Memolla, at the time a candidate for mayor, was heard intervening with an OSHEE employee to prevent a debtor subscriber from cutting off electricity.
