Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has lashed out at Kiev, saying that Ukraine has turned into an oligarchy and all its leaders are only interested in "stealing" the country and enriching themselves.

Lukashenko made the comments on Wednesday during a speech to a gathering of high-profile officials and public figures. Lukashenko lashed out at the neighboring country, accusing its presidents and "oligarchs" of stealing Ukraine's wealth.

The process began immediately after Ukraine became an independent state following the collapse of the Soviet Union and has worsened over time, Lukashenko argued.

“Just think – a prosperous country. The land is fertile, half of the periodic table on its land, two seas, mines, industrial giants. People are creative, hardworking. Live, be happy and get rich. And they got rich, but only very slightly, in the very ‘best’ traditions of Western European democracies,” he said.
