The spectacle continues in the mixed doubles tournament at the US Open. Flavio Cobolli and Belinda Bencic have secured qualification for the semifinals, after eliminating the pair of Carlos Alcaraz and Serena Williams.
The Italian and Swiss, ranked as the number 4 seed, triumphed with a score of 5-4, 4-1, stopping the adventure of two big names in world tennis.
For Alcaraz, it was his return to the court after four months out due to a serious right wrist injury. The Spaniard played in front of a packed Arthur Ashe Stadium alongside Serena Williams, who at the age of 44 had decided to return to the tennis court.
Meanwhile, for Cobolli, this was another important test before the start of the men's singles tournament. In the semifinals, the Italian and Bencic will face Frenchman Gael Monfils and Ukrainian Elina Svitolina on August 27.
