Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj spoke about the high prices, saying that from the monitoring carried out, it was noticed that there was an increase in prices only in the vegetable category and that a subsidy will be guaranteed for this.

"Since mid-March, we have seen an increase in the prices of fruits and vegetables, but since the beginning of the crisis we have been monitoring prices. The increase has only occurred in the vegetable category and all other food categories have not reflected an increase. I guarantee the public that this concern is continuously monitored and discussed at every meeting of the Council of Ministers, as we will take care to subsidize all needy groups with low incomes who cannot afford the price increase. We guarantee that the consequences of the war will have a minimal impact on the Albanian economy and on the groups that cannot afford the price increase", she said.

He also underlined that prices are being monitored on a daily basis, adding that there has been no increase in the basket of products.

"We are monitoring prices on a daily basis. We have information that only the fuel category has increased and not the basket products. Inflation in March marked the level of 2.6%, which is still a controlled level. As I said, the truth is that in the past we have intervened in a subsidy for the needy. If we see an increase, we will intervene. The effects of the war have an impact like in any other country in the world," Ibrahimaj added.

During her speech, Minister Ibrahimaj emphasized that the Board's goal is to prevent prices from increasing speculatively. She further said that the government will not reduce the turnover tax.

"It is a topic discussed every time there is an increase in fuel prices. The priority is to ensure that the crisis is transmitted at low levels in the Albanian market. The Board's goal is to prevent prices from increasing speculatively. We think that there is no need to intervene in the turnover tax. It is collected in this form, as it is right to collect it that way. The one who consumes more fuel, consumes more and pays more. We will reduce the excise tax by 20% every time the price goes above 220 lekë", she said.
