The head of the Union of Judges, Gerd Hoxha, in his speech to the Laws Committee, opposed the Socialist Party's draft on magistrates' salaries. He stated that the draft is in fact in violation of the Constitution and that a broader consultation is needed so that the errors can be repaired.
"The new law should be returned, it seems to be subject to a broad consultation to be repaired. I am ashamed that my salary is higher than that of my professor, he is a member of the Supreme Court. I believe that even Rama, if he had an explanation of his own, would not be involved in this violation of the Constitution," he said.
"I am not afraid of anyone, I am only afraid of those who are at the top. This is not about my salary, it is about the future of the country, about the intervention of the government. We are ready to work for another 6 months without lek, give lek to the administration. You will give them because the Constitution says so. This is certain. If you are going to carry out an assassination and a constitutional coup, then it is another matter," he added, insisting that salaries will be paid according to the Constitution.
