The General Directorate of Prisons has announced that it has successfully transferred the convicts and pre-trial detainees of the Fushë-Krujë Prison to other prison institutions.
According to the Prison Directorate, "during this well-organized operation, a total of 142 people were transferred, specifically 85 to the Peqin Penitentiary Institution and 57 to the Durrës Penitentiary Institution. The process was carried out under increased security measures, with the engagement of operational and special forces, specialized employees and the use of dedicated vehicles."
"This operation involved 340 police officers and 48 vehicles. The operation was carried out using modern digital technology, including aerial surveillance drones, anti-drone systems and individual digital communication systems for each officer involved," the Directorate of Prisons announced.
The Directorate of Prisons highlighted that body and vehicle cameras transmitted live footage, guaranteeing maximum transparency, control and security.
"Also, the operation was coordinated in real time with all law enforcement institutions along the movement route, including the Prosecutor's Offices of General Jurisdiction, the Local Police Directorates of Tirana, Elbasan and Durrës, as well as the relevant police stations, ensuring efficient inter-institutional cooperation," the Prisons Directorate announced.
Both convoys, according to the Prisons Directorate, arrived without any incident at their respective destinations, where standard procedures were implemented for the reception, control and accommodation of detainees and convicts, in full compliance with the legislation and regulations in force.
"This operation demonstrates the maximum commitment of the Prison System to guarantee security, investment in modern infrastructure, the use of advanced technology and rigorous respect for fundamental human rights and freedoms. The Albanian penitentiary system continues to be dedicated to building a modern, transparent and safe system, in the function of order, law and human dignity," the Directorate of Prisons announced.
