The Mayor of Vau i Dejës, Kristian Shkreli, appeared before the Criminal Court today.

Shkreli is being tried after SPAK's accusations of involvement in active corruption in the May 11 elections. As can be seen from the footage, Shkreli went to the GJKKO together with his lawyer. According to the official SPAK announcement, on October 23, 2025, criminal proceeding no. 49/1 of 2025, separate from criminal proceeding no. 49/2025, which is related to investigations conducted for illegal activities during the parliamentary elections held on May 11, 2025, was sent for trial.

During the investigations, conducted through special investigative methods such as telephone interceptions, field observations and other procedural actions, SPAK has concluded that Kristian Shkreli, in his capacity as mayor of Vau Dejës Municipality, was involved in illegal activities aimed at influencing voters in the Stajkë village area.

According to the indictment, during the election campaign, Shkreli promised and offered material benefits to voters in exchange for their vote in favor of the political entity Social Democratic Party of Albania. From the evidence collected, it appears that the defendant exploited his public position and the needs of the area's residents for the construction of the electricity network, an investment made during the electoral campaign period, by asking them to vote for the party he supported.
