A small cargo plane carrying valuables for the Central Bank of Ecuador has crashed on a road near Mariscal Lamar International Airport in the city of Cuenca. The two people on board have survived and are reportedly in good health.
The incident occurred during the landing of the plane, which was arriving from Guayaquil. Footage circulating online shows the aircraft failing to stop within the runway, overshot the end of it and landed on a road, where it collided with a lamppost.

According to early reports, the aircraft overran the runway when landing and fell down a small cliff.

According to Flightradar24 data, the aircraft was traveling at a speed of approximately 92 knots with less than 520 meters remaining to the end of the runway. This data suggests that the aircraft was traveling at a significant speed during the approach for landing. The aircraft, registration number HC-CYM, was operated by Cuencana Airlines and was performing a cargo flight.
Despite the flight leaving the runway and crashing into the road, the two people on board survived the accident. The full circumstances of the incident are expected to be determined by the investigation into the incident.
