An unusual scene for diplomacy was seen on Monday morning in Nairobi, where French President Emmanuel Macron ditched his formal suit and appeared in sneakers, running through the city streets alongside marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge.

Macron is in Kenya for the Africa Forward Summit and was filmed during a morning workout, where he and Kipchoge ran together at a leisurely pace, accompanied by a group of runners and the presidential security service. Footage of the French president running alongside one of the greatest marathon runners in history quickly spread on social media, bringing a lighter moment to a busy diplomatic agenda.

"Eliud Kipchoge is considered one of the greatest runners of all time," it was emphasized during the event, which served as the symbolic opening of the two-day summit.

The Africa Forward Summit brings together leaders, investors and innovation leaders from Africa and Europe in Nairobi, with a focus on economic cooperation, infrastructure, green energy, technology and education. As part of the summit, Kenya and France also signed a series of agreements in areas such as transport, renewable energy, digital transformation and agriculture, aiming to strengthen the partnership between the two countries.
