"While thousands of Albanians face unemployment, low wages and economic impotence, the wealth of the prime minister's family continues to grow," said Genta Vangjeli, the anti-corruption spokesperson for the Democratic Party, in a press statement.
She said that referring to the asset declaration for 2024, Prime Minister Edi Rama has an annual income of 108 thousand euros, while his wife, Linda Rama, has spent 336 thousand euros alone on real estate purchases during the same year, including repaying a loan and purchasing a new 118 m² property.
This contrast between the economic reality of citizens and the spending of the prime minister's family raises questions about priorities and the distribution of wealth in the country.
Genta Vangjeli's statement:
While thousands of Albanians continue to leave the country due to unemployment, low wages, and economic hardship, the wealth of the prime minister's family continues to grow year after year.
According to the asset declaration form submitted on March 31, 2025 (for the year 2024), Prime Minister Edi Rama has declared income worth 36.7 thousand euros from his salary as Prime Minister, about 9.2 thousand euros more than in the previous year, and other income in the amount of 71 thousand euros.
Total monetary income 108 thousand euros per year, otherwise an average of 9 thousand euros per month.
Meanwhile, his wife declared an income of 90 thousand euros for the same year, continuing to excel in the real estate market.
Meanwhile, in 2023, Mrs. Rama had purchased a real estate property worth 429 thousand euros, for which she had paid 200 thousand euros, while she had declared that she would repay the difference of 229 thousand euros within 2024.
In its latest statement, it announces that it has fully repaid this obligation, thanks to the help of a loan of 200 thousand euros, obtained in June 2024.
Also, in the same year, she declared the purchase of another real estate with an area of 118 m², for a price of 107 thousand euros or 910 euros per square meter.
So, for 2024 alone, Mrs. Rama's real estate purchase expenses amount to 336 thousand euros.
In conclusion, according to official self-declarations, the Prime Minister's wife is the owner of:
An apartment with an area of 146 m²
Half of a residential house in Surrel, with a building area of 490 m² and 8390 m² of land
A real estate property purchased in 2023 with an area of 107.33 m²
A real estate property purchased in 2024 with an area of 118 m²
Also, 100% owned land with a total area of 9570 m².
Land in blocks purchased for 310 euros per m2 or real estate worth 910 euros per m2 are prices that remain a distant dream for ordinary citizens, but for the Prime Minister's family it is a tangible asset.
