With collapsed walls and roofs, broken windows and doors, and a completely depreciated electrical network, this is the condition of the apartment in which 33-year-old Andrea Ranxha lives in Elbasan.

Abandoned by fate since infancy, the 33-year-old has been living alone since the death of his adoptive parents, while scoliosis has made it impossible for him to work. The house where he lives is uninhabitable, having been severely damaged by the 2019 earthquake, becoming a real danger to his life. Every night, Andrea sleeps with the fear that the walls could collapse and trap him.

With only 11.500 lek per month in disability pension and the money that citizens give him while singing in the street, the 33-year-old is trying to survive. According to him, this amount of money is not even enough to provide for his monthly medication. For food, he is often forced to buy it by list at the city stores, while the electricity and water bills remain an unbearable burden.

Despite extreme hardship, Andrea does not seek mercy, but assistance from state authorities to repair her apartment.
