The explosion, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, left at least two people with second-degree burns and is receiving medical treatment, while an operation is underway to find a possible trapped person. Following the incident, a fire broke out at an oil storage facility in Balboa, which spread and caused serious damage to the 'Bridge of the Americas' in Panama City.

The moment of the explosion was captured on video, showing huge flames rising above the road, while drivers who were near the scene immediately left the area. According to local media, the fire resulted in the temporary closure of traffic on the bridge so that authorities could assess the situation and ensure there was no further safety risk.
