Moments of panic were recorded at a festival in the city of Zacatlán, Mexico, after a car suddenly crashed into a crowd of people, causing chaos and immediate attempts by participants to leave the area.

At least 15 people were injured in the incident, while local authorities confirmed that there were no fatalities. Zacatlán Mayor Betty Sanchez said the injured were in stable condition and out of danger.

The incident occurred during the Gran Feria de la Manzana, the Great Apple Festival, a popular event. According to authorities, a Chevrolet entered the festival area from the Hotel Zacatlán and struck pedestrians before coming to a stop after hitting what appeared to be a concrete pillar. The vehicle then ended up hitting the area near the Apple Pavilion.

 

Following the incident, emergency protocols were immediately activated at the scene and rescue teams were deployed to provide assistance to the injured. The driver was arrested and the vehicle was seized by authorities.

The mayor said there is a suspicion that the driver of the vehicle may have had a health problem at the time of the incident, which may have caused the loss of control over the car. However, authorities stressed that this version has not yet been confirmed and will need to be verified through relevant expertise.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the incident and what led to the vehicle crashing into the crowd.
