Russia has broken its 146-year-old snowfall record, the country's meteorological service said, as some regions faced extreme winter conditions. In some areas, snow reached the second floor of residential buildings, causing great hardship for residents.

The Kamchatka Peninsula, in Russia's Far East, was hit by a powerful winter storm on the night of January 13, paralyzing life in the region. Authorities said that, despite the dire situation, no deaths or injuries have been reported.

Footage shared on social media shows an unusual and "frightening" landscape, with cars completely covered in snow and entrances to houses blocked. In one of the videos, a man is seen jumping out of a third-floor window into the piled-up snow to escape his apartment.
