The 66th minute of the match between Inter and Milan in the Italian Cup could have completely reopened the challenge, as Benaser managed to score the goal that temporarily reduced the score to 2-1. But referee Mariani decided to cancel that goal after reviewing the footage in VAR.
A decision about which there are great doubts and the former Italian international judge, Graziano Cesari, has himself assessed it as such.
"Inter's protests at the goal come for a handball by Tomori, which is not the case," he initially explained to Mediaset. "But then there is another game situation, with Kalulu's run which goes horizontally, but does not prevent Handanovic from seeing the ball, even if he does not move. The ball passes between Inter players, not between Milan's.
"I have many doubts about this decision, it is an offside position that is undoubtedly subjective and open to interpretation," Cesar emphasized in his analysis of the events of the challenge.
