At least 18 people have died in a serious road accident in northern Egypt, where two small trucks carrying agricultural workers collided with each other.

The incident has caused great shock, while preliminary data indicates that a large part of the victims were minors. According to a medical source quoted by AFP, most of the dead were teenagers aged 13 and 14.

Meanwhile, Egyptian media outlet Al-Masry Al-Youm reported that the youngest victim was just 10 years old.

Authorities have launched investigations to clarify the circumstances of the accident and determine the cause of the tragic collision.
