Analyst and journalist Mentor Kikia has emphasized the importance of standards in the voting process for Albanians living abroad, underlining that credibility and fairness are key elements.
During an interview on the show "Log." on "News24,” Kikia warned that any manipulation in this process would have serious consequences.
"If the diaspora vote is treated like the elections in Debar, we have done extraordinary damage. We have collapsed and destroyed from the very first step a process that has been fought both abroad and within the country, for decades," said Kikia.
He called for the process to be unobjectionable and built on a fair basis, serving as an example for the future.
"How Albanians abroad will vote and what role they will play in disrupting or continuing the same political situation, I want to consider it secondary."
I would call the standard a priority. If the diaspora vote is treated like the elections in Debar, we have done extraordinary damage because we have collapsed and destroyed, from the very first step, a process that has been fought both abroad and within the country for decades. This process is being realized now because the party in power now wants it.
"It is very important that the process is credible, irrefutable and fair. We are being criticized because every electoral process has been subject to manipulation and has not been accepted by the opponent. It is very important that this does not happen with the immigrant vote," he said.
