With or without Julian Alvarez, Atletico Madrid continues its bad moment, where after losing to Bilbao in La Liga, Simeone's team also falls in the Champions League, suffering a 2-1 defeat with a shock defeat against Liverpool on the move. Diego Simeone admits that his team is facing difficulties at the start of the season, especially in defense where they are conceding goals easily:

"Liverpool are a great team, but we played an interesting match. At the beginning of the season we have conceded a lot of goals, this is a detail where we need to improve to compete at high levels until the end ," said Simeone.

At the press conference, the Atletico Madrid coach was also asked about the situation of Julian Alvarez, with the Argentine starting against Liverpool: "I liked Julian a lot, he looked for the ball from start to finish. I'm sure he will grow a lot," Simeone stressed.

The discussion within Liverpool's ranks was different, with coach Andoni Iraola enjoying this first experience on the red bench in the Champions League: "I enjoyed it a lot, it was a fantastic atmosphere. The fans helped us, especially at the end when the team was forced to defend. Overall it was a good match, except for those first few minutes ," said Iraola.
