The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has leveled accusations against the government regarding the initiative to centralize the drug trade and create a state-owned enterprise for the import of drugs, while targeting the state-owned company Kayo. Responding to a question during a conversation with citizens, Berisha claimed that behind the creation of the state-owned enterprise, a scheme for its transfer to a businessman connected, according to him, to Prime Minister Edi Rama could be hidden.

According to the DP leader, the goal would be to profit from hundreds of millions of euros from the drug trade. He also linked this claim to the KAYO company, which he said the Democratic Party will investigate and publish data that, according to him, is related to its activity.

Berisha described the centralization of the pharmaceutical market as a return to a state model of the past and accused the government of aiming to concentrate control over a sector with considerable economic value.

"Before the tender is announced, the suitcase with millions is brought or transfers are made to their offshore accounts.
And this is a crime.
And the monopolization of dialysis is a serious blow to other hospitals as well.
Moreover, when the offer is no longer cheaper, it is clearly flagrant as a corrupt act.
But I believe you have heard that Edi Rama wants to 'nationalize' the entire pharmaceutical trade in Albania, but well-informed sources announce that after the creation of the state-owned enterprise for the import of medicines, the KAYO model or the government's dirty work model will be used.
Rama has selected KAYO next to take over the import of medicines, of course to share the money with him.
"So, we are dealing with another step, another major act of black hands over hundreds and hundreds of millions of euros in imports of medicines for Albanians," he said.
