Italian investigative journalist Nello Trocchia, invited to the show "Oponencë" on News24, commented on the agreement between Albania and Italy on camps for processing migrants caught at sea trying to reach Italy.
According to Trocchia, this agreement represents a clear failure from both a political and economic point of view, bringing high costs to the parties involved.
"The Italy-Albania agreement on refugees is a major failure for both sides. Italy has spent more than 1 billion euros, while around 120 million euros go to Albania to guarantee security," the journalist said.
He added that, in his opinion, the decision for this agreement was politically and economically wrong, describing it as an incorrect choice by the Italian government.
"I believe that this agreement was a wrong choice on Meloni's part and a politically wrong positioning," Trocchia declared.
The Italian journalist also raised doubts about the impact that this agreement may have on Albania's European integration process, emphasizing that Italy itself, according to him, has lost weight in the European arena.
"I don't know if this agreement helps Albania's EU membership, because Italy has also lost its weight in the European arena," he said.
