Within the framework of the three-day visit to Zagreb, as part of the International Democrat Union Forum, the delegation of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party of Albania, headed by the leader of the DP, Sali Berisha, held a meeting with the former President of Croatia, Stjepan Mesic.
During the meeting, Berisha and Mediu thanked Mesic, whom they described as an old friend of theirs and of the Albanians, for his continued support for the Albanian nation, especially for the Independence of Kosovo and his cooperation, as well as that of Croatia, in the process of Albania's membership in NATO.
In his speech, Berisha was critical of the current situation in Albania, emphasizing that unlike Croatia, which is already a member state of the European Union, Albania has regressed. According to the DP leader, corruption, organized crime and the lack of free elections have negatively affected the country's European path.
On the other hand, former President Mesic emphasized that Albanians must follow every democratic path to face the challenges and overcome the difficult situations the country faces.
