The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has managed to win the country's first parliamentary elections since the 2024 uprising, which also brought down Sheikh Hasina's government.
According to foreign media reports, the BNP secured a strong parliamentary majority, a result that could restore political stability in the country of 175 million people.
The elections were seen as crucial, following months of bloody unrest that disrupted daily life and hit key sectors of the economy, including the garment industry, in the world's second-largest exporter of ready-made garments.
The elections were considered the first competitive in years, with an estimated turnout of over 60%.
