The search and rescue operation in the building severely damaged by the powerful explosion in the "Beqir Dardha" neighborhood in Elbasan has resumed after a temporary interruption, where 69-year-old Hamit Ibro, a father of four, is suspected to be under the rubble.

The Commander of the Civil Emergency and Support Base, Colonel Hajdar Gurra, announced in a statement to the media that two search and rescue teams have been deployed on the ground, with a total of 16 people and the necessary equipment to carry out the operation.

He emphasized that the intervention poses a very high risk due to the serious condition of the building, which is almost completely destroyed.

According to Colonel Gurrës, the searches will continue until completion, but while rigorously respecting all security parameters for the officers involved.

One of the most worrying elements of the operation are the results of the use of thermal cameras, which, according to him, show very little likelihood that 69-year-old Hamit Ibro is still alive.

Currently, teams are focused on the part of the building where, based on information from family members and local structures, it is believed that the elderly person was at the time of the explosion.

The operation continues amid great difficulties, while authorities are making every effort to locate the 69-year-old and ensure the safety of rescue personnel.
