Tirana, October 16, 2026 – In a ceremony held today at the United Colleges Hall, Sokol Sadushi officially handed over the duties of the President of the Supreme Court to Ilir Panda. This important institutional moment was attended by the judges of the court, legal advisors, and administrative employees.
The ceremony marked the conclusion of a six-year period of leadership by Sadushi, during which the institution faced major challenges, such as reducing the stock of files, increasing the quality of decisions, and strengthening transparency with the public.
In his speech, Sadushi thanked the team for their dedication and cooperation over the years, recalling the beginnings with only one judge and thousands of pending files. Confirming that he will continue his contribution to this institution as a judge, he said:
"For me, the duty of the president ends today, while the responsibility as a judge of this court continues. I will continue to work alongside you, with the same dedication to the institution and to the citizens who expect justice."
For his part, the new President, Ilir Panda, described taking office as a high commitment to the Constitution and the citizens, appreciating the work done to re-establish the Supreme Court. He underlined that public trust is built through high standards and daily work, emphasizing:
“Public trust is built through the quality of decision-making, clear and consistent judicial reasoning, efficient administration of processes, and institutional accountability.”
The transfer of office marks the continuation of institutional work to guarantee quality, impartial and reliable justice for all citizens.
