The US and Iran are expected to begin a new round of technical negotiations in Doha tomorrow, in an effort to ease the high tensions of recent days that threatened to completely block the peace process. US President Donald Trump announced the news through a post on his Truth Social platform.

Despite the US president's firm statement, the situation on the Iranian side remains unclear. So far, there has been no official confirmation from Tehran, while just hours before Trump's announcement, a senior Iranian official had claimed that there were no plans for technical talks.

Despite the public statements, behind-the-scenes moves are continuing. A source familiar with the negotiations confirmed to NBC News that technical teams working to implement the initial agreement are indeed scheduled to meet in the Qatari capital.

He added that communication channels specifically set up to prevent further escalation remain operational and that talks will continue. The development comes on the heels of a weekend of mutual attacks that seriously damaged efforts to reach a lasting agreement to end the war.
