A hearing is expected to begin at the Tirana Criminal Court to determine the security measure against Turkish citizen Julide Yazici, who was arrested on August 5 by the Border Police at Rinas Airport with the aim of extraditing her to Turkey.
Yazici was sentenced to 4 years and 2 months in prison by the Istanbul Court, on charges of "Providing logistical support to a terrorist organization" and "Participating in terrorist groups."
According to Turkish media, she works as a teacher and has participated in protests against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. According to these sources, the Turkish citizen had obtained a residence permit in France.
At the court hearing in the capital, two lawyers, one Albanian and one Turkish, appeared to defend him.
The latter is reported to have also informed the French Embassy in Tirana regarding the detention and extradition procedures against Julide Yazici, due to the residence permit she holds in the French state. The court is expected to rule on the security measure after hearing the parties.
