The pressure on FIFA and its president Gianni Infantino is mounting. Following UEFA and CONCACAF, the Asian Football Confederation has joined the demands for a greater distribution of the organization's income. AFC President Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has sent a letter to Infantino, demanding a review of FIFA's financial reserves and greater support for member associations.

According to The Times, the request comes ahead of a FIFA Council meeting scheduled for October 15. UEFA and CONCACAF have demanded that each of the 211 member associations receive at least $10 million, taking into account the revenue generated during the 2026 World Cup cycle. The Asian football chief also emphasizes that FIFA's financial success should translate into more investment in the development of football around the world.

The issue comes at a delicate moment for Infantino, who has recently faced criticism and calls for his resignation. On the other hand, the FIFA president has stated that he is ready to discuss possible reforms to the governance and functioning of the organization.
