Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has announced in a statement to Serbian media that he will resign. He said he will resign from the post of head of state on September 27.

"I would like to announce that on September 27, I will resign from the post of president. That evening, I will address the citizens and thank them for their support. I have been the President of the Republic for the longest time since the establishment of the multi-party system in our country. I could not have done this without the citizens of this country. The only thing I can say is that I have served Serbia and its citizens faithfully, with dedication and by fighting," Vučić said.
