Miley Cyrus has opened up about an unusual moment from her engagement to musician Maxx Morando, revealing that before he proposed in Japan, she suspected her engagement ring was hidden somewhere with her. The 33-year-old singer spoke about the moment during an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music on Sept. 17. She said that during a walk in Kyoto, she became convinced that Morando had the ring with him and decided to check if her suspicions were true.

"Max and I were going for a walk and I thought, 'I'm going to look for it. He definitely has an engagement ring on him. This would be the best time,'" Cyrus said. However, her search proved unsuccessful. She went to the bathroom and decided not to ruin the trip by making a scene, thinking that maybe her partner didn't have the ring. In fact, Morando had the ring on him. He had hidden it in a pocket near his knee, which Cyrus didn't check.

A little later, during the walk, Morando got down on one knee and proposed. "I let out a cry of surprise, while he was on his knees. He was down to earth, so sweet, and he said, 'You're the love of my life. Will you marry me?'" Cyrus recalled. The singer said that at that moment she realized how close she had been to revealing the surprise. "I thought, 'Oh my God, I almost ruined everything,'" she confessed. The couple had previously discussed marriage, and Cyrus had also given some signals about the rings she liked, sending her partner links to different models.

Morando, on the other hand, had previously revealed that he tried to keep the proposal a secret until the last minute. He confessed that he was very nervous when he got down on one knee, even worrying that he might drop the ring. According to Cyrus, although she was suspicious of the surprise, Morando managed to keep it a secret and turn the walk in Kyoto into a special moment for both of them.
