Details from the Conference of Mayors, which was held behind closed doors, have been revealed, while the meeting was accompanied by debates. Journalist Ergys Gjençaj, in a live report for News24, pointed out the points that divided the positions of the majority and the opposition, causing the session to fail.

The Socialist Party requested that the Territorial Reform be included on the agenda for October 8, to be approved in the Assembly, a request that was not agreed to by the Democratic Party.

"This morning, the meeting of the Conference of Mayors began at around 09:00. The conference was accompanied by debates, while the setting of the work calendar was the moment when sparks were lit and debates began. The Socialist Party proposed that the relevant draft law be passed in the plenary session of October 8 on the administrative-territorial reform. According to the DP, specifically Gazment Bardhi, this point should be postponed. "We should not have such a session, as it should be postponed", with the claim that the necessary consultations have not been held," said Gjençaj.

The Socialist Party's proposal to merge 15 small municipalities has been opposed by the residents of these areas, who have risen in protest.
