MP Ermal Blushi has reacted sharply to recent political and institutional developments in the country, calling for a broad political and civic confrontation against what he describes as "the capture of the state by the mafia."
In a lengthy statement, Blushi claims that key security and state institutions have been placed under the control of criminal groups and directly accuses Prime Minister Edi Rama of being primarily responsible for this situation. These are political accusations made by Blushi and do not constitute judicially proven facts.
"O Republic, O mafia!" writes Blushi, arguing that according to him, Albania is facing a decisive moment for the future of the state and its institutions.
In his statement, he mentions the State Intelligence Service, the State Police, the Ministry of Defense and other institutions, which he claims are under the influence of persons linked to organized crime.
Blushi also accuses Prime Minister Rama of being at the head of a system that he describes as a "mafia state," while demanding that citizens, police officers, and military personnel, whom he calls honest, unite in defense of the institutions and the Constitution.
"The time to liberate the state is today! The time to return Albania to the Albanians is today!", he says.
In the final part of the statement, Blushi uses Colombia's fight against Pablo Escobar as an example, calling for unity against what he describes as a criminal organization that has challenged the state.
"Republic or mafia. Albania or the Boss of Bosses," Blushi writes, closing the statement with a call for a strong political and civic confrontation against the Rama government.

Colombia during the years of the war against Pablo Escobar is one of the strongest examples of how honest police officers, victims' families, and citizens united in the face of a bandit who had challenged the state itself and shown it its place.
