Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, in his speech at the meeting with his Albanian counterpart Ferit Hoxha, said that when Jews were persecuted in Europe, Albania saved them.
Sa'ar emphasized that Albanian-Israeli friendship has its roots in history.
He thanked Albania for its official anti-Semitic stance and for condemning the attacks by Hamas and Iran.
Gideon Sa'ar: Albania is a friendly country to Israel. Our friendship is rooted in history. When the Israelites were persecuted throughout Europe, the Albanians helped the Jews. Albania was the only country on the continent that saved the Jews and we will never forget this.
Prime Minister Rama has given support to the Jewish community. Albania's condemnation of Hamas attacks is very important for Israel. Even today, when Jews come to Albania, they are welcomed. I thank Albania for its support against anti-Semitism and condemnation of the attacks on Iran.
