A journey that began in 1998, when he was just 29 years old, is coming to an end after 28 years. British adventurer Karl Bushby, now 57, has finally returned to British soil, having traveled around 50 kilometers in 29 countries around the world, challenging physical limits and extreme conditions of nature.
Bushby set out with two non-negotiable rules: not to use any means of transportation to advance on his route and not to return home without completing the journey under his own power.
Over the years, the adventurer has crossed jungles, deserts and areas with difficult weather conditions. Among the most extraordinary challenges was crossing the ice-covered Bering Strait, as well as swimming through the Caspian Sea. After a long journey across continents, he even managed to cross the English Channel, getting closer and closer to his final destination.
On October 5, Bushby set foot on British soil for the first time in 28 years away from home. However, his journey is not over yet. He still has about 400 kilometers, or 250 miles, to walk to his home in Hull.
The adventurer hopes to complete the mission in early November, thus closing a journey that has lasted almost three decades and that has taken him from a completely different world to the era of artificial intelligence.
Karl Bushby's story is an extraordinary testament to human perseverance: he left home in the last century and is expected to return after 28 years, during which the world has changed radically.
