A volleyball set goes straight into the annals of world volleyball history with its record-breaking figures. In the match between Italy and Germany, valid for the FIPAV Cup Men Elite, a world record was registered, entering the album of records for the longest set in history.

The Germans closed this set 66-64, after an hour and a half of play. This breaks the previous record, which belonged to the Volleyball Nations League match between Argentina and Poland, held on June 28, 2026. In that match, one of the sets closed 50-48, after 62 minutes of play.

For both teams, this was a test on the eve of the European Volleyball Championship, as the Italian national team debuts on September 10 in Naples, where they will face Sweden.
