President Bajram Begaj has reacted to the decision of the Special Court in The Hague against the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
Through a post on social media, the head of state expressed sadness over the decision, while describing the determination to appeal it as a sign of integrity and stability.
"Deep sadness for today's decision. The determination to appeal the decision is a strong sign of integrity and stability. For Albanians, no one and nothing tarnishes the KLA! Freedom has a name!", Begaj wrote.
The Special Court sentenced former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi to 25 years in prison, while also finding Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi guilty of war crimes charges. All four were found not guilty of crimes against humanity and have the right to appeal the verdict.
