An important technical detail is being investigated regarding the tragic explosion in a building in Elbasan, where two people lost their lives and the building suffered severe structural damage. According to the data made public, the gas cylinder is suspected to have been placed on the ground floor of the building, while the gas was conveyed through a pipeline to the apartment on the third floor, where the explosion occurred.

This installation configuration is one of the elements that are expected to be verified by technical experts, to determine whether there was a leak along the pipeline and how the gas concentration in the apartment was created. Preliminary suspicions relate to the possibility that the leak caused the accumulation of gas, which, in contact with an ignition source, could have led to a powerful explosion.

However, the exact cause, the point of leakage and the mechanism of the explosion remain to be determined through technical expertise and official investigations. The explosion killed 69-year-old Hamit Ibro, the owner of the apartment where the incident is suspected to have occurred, and 82-year-old Hatixhe Berisha, another resident of the building. In addition to determining the direct cause, the investigation must also clarify who installed the gas supply system, whether the pipeline was suitable and certified for this use, and whether the necessary technical checks were carried out and safety standards were respected.

The explosion has rendered the building unusable, and it is considered dangerous for habitation. The final assessment of structural damage and the decision on the fate of the building belong to experts from the Institute of Construction.
