The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of obstructing Albania's European integration process by failing to guarantee parliamentary control and the implementation of decisions by justice institutions.

In a statement to the media, Berisha focused on the findings of the European Commission report, criticizing the majority for the lack of public consultations, the rejection of opposition requests to establish investigative committees, and the failure of ministers to regularly appear in Parliament to answer MPs' questions.

He described as particularly worrying the majority's position regarding SPAK's request to lift the immunity of former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.

According to Berisha, this issue raises serious questions about the checks and balances between powers, as well as the equality of citizens before the law.

The DP leader also accused the prime minister of avoiding comments on the criticisms of the European Commission report, while considering him the main responsible for the political and institutional situation in the country.

Lack of public consultations.

This raises concerns about mutual control between powers and equality before the law.
