Entrepreneur Asim Prengëzaj, who has been part of the protests in Tirana in support of young people for months, has confessed on the show "News24 Weekend" the reasons that made him stay in the square, his experience during clashes with the police and the support he gave to the young protesters.

Prengëzaj stated that the protest started on May 31 and that, according to him, it has continued for 162 days. He emphasized that it will not stop until the current system collapses. The entrepreneur indicated that he himself joined the protest on the second day, as he was outside Albania on the first day. Initially, together with a group of intellectuals and friends, he followed the protest, while on June 16 he was invited by a group of young men and women who were organizing the march.

"I was the oldest in the group. There were about 100 young boys and girls who were involved in the smooth running of the protest march, and I'm still there today. They called me the oldest of the group," he said.

Asked about police escorts, Prengëzaj revealed that he has been escorted three times, emphasizing that in each case he has been motivated by the desire to support young people.

According to him, students and young protesters do not need direction, as they have clear ideas and commitment, but they need moral support in the face of the high pressure they experience during the protests.

"They don't need direction, because they have clear ideas and their commitment. They need moral support, because the pressure there is very high. It's easy to see it from the screen, it's easy to see it from the couch at home, but the pressure there is very high. We have shared experiences with young men and women who have been followed, raped, and moral support at that moment is very important," Prengëzaj declared.

During the interview, the duration of the protest and its escalation after police intervention were also discussed. The studio assessed that the protest had started peacefully and that, after the use of violence by the state, it had entered another phase. The names “flamingo revolution” and “eagle revolution” were also mentioned as two phases of this movement.

Prengëzaj also shared the pain of the confrontation between protesters and police officers, describing the latter as one of the most abused groups over the years. He emphasized that his support for the youth is related to their cause and what they are experiencing in the square.
