Former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj has denounced the behind-the-scenes attack on the television station a year ago. News24, where the media was removed from the building and it was transferred to the use of the military enterprise "KAYO".

In his interview for "Minuta e Parë", Ahmetaj explained that this move by the executive was nothing more than a two-track operation: on the one hand, a pure criminal corrupt affair where the state releases public assets in favor of private interests, and on the other hand, a direct revenge by the "head of the organization", Edi Rama, against the media independence of the News24.

According to Ahmetaj, the prime minister does not consider the interests of citizens or the free media, but functions only in the service of his narrow circle of associates. “Where you are not counted at all, the head of the organization only counts people like Roni Yeffet and Ergys Agasi,” Ahmetaj said.

Following his reaction, Arben Ahmetaj issued a strong warning about the next step being prepared by the majority, indicating that the same scheme of plundering state assets and transferring them to private individuals will soon be applied to the health sector.

He directly called on the majority MPs to back down and refuse to make this initiative a priority in parliament. “I call on the parliamentary group not to vote for that! It is a pure criminal affair,” Ahmetaj concluded, demanding an immediate halt to the alienation of public assets for the benefit of people connected to power.

Ahmetaj underlined that the forcible removal of the News24 staff from the building where it had operated for many years was intended by the head of government to set an example.
